EDS hires Capitol Hill professional

Patricia Sarcone, who once worked for two Senate majority leaders, has joined EDS’ Global Government Affairs team to lead its financial services and e-commerce operations.

Patricia Sarcone, who had been an aide to former Senate majority leaders George Mitchell (D-Maine) and Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), has joined EDS’ Global Government Affairs team, the company announced today.Sarcone will be responsible for a broad portfolio, including financial services and electronic commerce, and will report to Randolph Dove, executive director of congressional relations at EDS.A veteran of more than 27 years on Capitol Hill, Sarcone worked for the Senate leaders from 1989 to 2005. She began her Senate career in 1969 as legislative assistant to Sen. Harold Hughes (D-Iowa). Upon his retirement, she became personal assistant to Sen. John Culver (D-Iowa).Sarcone left the Senate in 1981 to become special assistant to former Vice President Walter Mondale as he prepared to run against President Ronald Reagan in 1984.She returned to the Senate in 1989, first as executive assistant to Mitchell, directing his scheduling operation, and later as special assistant to Daschle with a wide range of responsibilities.“We are pleased that Pat has joined the EDS team,” Dove said. “Her knowledge of how the Senate works is a great asset and her perspectives on the institution will add greatly to the EDS Government Affairs team.”
