SAP appoints public services president

SAP Public Services, a subsidiary of SAP America, has appointed Patrick Bakey president of its U.S. public services organization.

In this position, Bakey will be responsible for the company's sales and field operations for the public sector, addressing organizations including the Defense Department, federal civilian agencies, homeland security, state and local governments, defense and security firms, and schools.

Bakey has 18 years' experience in the information technology industry. At SAP, he was senior vice president of the customer relationship management practice. He also served on the SAP Americas senior leadership team, working as an expert in industries, solutions and strategic partnerships vital to the company's growth.

Prior to joining SAP Americas in July 2004, Bakey was vice president of federal sales at Siebel Systems. He previously held management roles at Xerox.

Bakey succeeds Rand Blazer, who announced last month that he would become chief operating officer at Apex Systems, part of the SAP Partner Community.
