ITAA names VP for government relations

The Information Technology Association of America announced March 6 that it has tapped Cindy Jimenez, former adviser to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as its new vice president for government relations.

Jimenez's work with Pelosi included the federal budget and immigration issues. Beginning this week, Jimenez is ITAA's chief advocate on Capitol Hill, educating members about policies effecting the information technology industry and the country's ability to compete in a global economy.

During her five years with Pelosi, Jimenez also was a liaison to the Hispanic and Native American communities nationwide and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. During the 108th Congress, she assisted in the development of House Democrats' national outreach strategy on the immigration and budget legislative debates.

Jimenez joined Pelosi's staff as deputy communications director in the Democratic Whip's office in 2002. Prior to joining Pelosi's office, Jimenez was communications director for Rep. Gene Green (D-Houston).
