If making the funny pages means you’re officially famous, then congratulations to , administrator of the General Services Administration, who jumped from political cartoons to the strips. The comic strip “Candorville,” which some people describe as Doonesbury lite, recently featured a series on the Hatch Act. On April 11, the ’toon  — reprinted here and titled “Amnesia” — depicts someone with memory problems who looks a lot like Doan. The cartoon’s author, , blogs about the sketch that includes Doan. “Before you write to me and say, ‘This doesn’t happen,’ watch this clip, in which Congress grills General Services Administration Chief Lurita Doan about allegedly illegal use of her nonpartisan office to help the GOP retake Congress in 2008,” he writes. “At issue is a PowerPoint presentation given on GSA premises to GSA employees.” The Hatch Act questions comes from the much-publicized January lunch meeting during which Bush administration officials made presentations about the 2006 midterm elections and the upcoming 2008 elections.
