Letter: Our leaders must get serious about national security

A reader says Congress should penalize DHS for delaying a project to secure the country’s border with Mexico.

Regarding “Chertoff: DHS likely to accept Project 28 within days”: Sounds to me this acceptance is just a well-orchestrated bureaucratic delay at the Homeland Security Department. Why can't Congress impose some real penalties on DHS for these delays? In the business world, DHS would have already been out of a job.

When will anybody in power get serious about our national security?  All we, the American people, get is verbal volleys back and forth. Meanwhile, the torrent continues on our borders.
