Letter: Managers hold too much control under NSPS

A reader writes that the National Security Personnel System "lets the manager's get away with too much without good checks and balances."

Regarding "Unions say NSPS rules could hurt DOD employees": You have also not mentioned the ability of a manager to reduce the work load that an employee was hired for, and by doing this can also lower the employees pay.

ALL this and the employee has nothing to say really. One reason is because it is a new system and not an easy one to follow. So you may have been hired as a GS-12 and now converted to NSPS.  This system lets the manager's get away with too much without good checks and balances. I know that it will take time to work out things, but in the meantime employees will suffer while the upper-managers profit.

I am sure it will also weed out the bad employees and this is the good part. But it has a big hole, which if a manager does not like you even if you are doing the work required, he can behind the [scenes] destroy your career.

A lot of this is because the employee does not know "clearly" what they can do to challenge the process.
