Dodaro picked to be comptroller

President Barack Obama selected Gene Dodaro to be the U.S. comptroller general Sept. 22.

Gene Dodaro, the acting comptroller general of the United States, has been nominated to fill that post.

Dodaro has been acting comptroller general and also head of the Government Accountability Office since March 2008. The White House announced Dodaro’s nomination Sept. 22.

Dodaro's nomination will come before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee chaired by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).The committee has not set a date yet for a confirmation hearing. 

Dodaro has worked at GAO for 37 years. In his time there, he has been chief operating officer and assistant comptroller general for GAO’s largest unit, the Accountability and Information Management Division.
