Federal Computer Week and 1105 Government Information Group have announced the winners of the 2011 Federal 100 awards. The winners did work that included developing the cybersecurity workforce, applying social media to disaster response, improving services to veterans, developing geospatial-based intelligence analysis and preparing the nation to deal with health emergencies.

The Federal 100 award recognizes individuals in government and industry who made significant contributions to the federal IT community in the previous year.

This year’s winners, chosen by a select panel of government and industry leaders, include 23 people from industry, two from state and local government, and 75 from the federal government – with 55 in civilian agencies and 20 in the defense sector.
