GSA hires heavy hitter for innovative technologies post
The General Services Administration has hired a power player to lead its Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies.
Kathy Conrad has begun work as the new principal deputy associate administrator of the General Services Administration’s Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies, the agency announced May 9.
Conrad will help oversee operations to enhance federal data and services to the public, and she will facilitate federal agencies’ adoption of new technologies for improved performance and reduced costs.
"Kathy Conrad is a great addition to the GSA leadership team as we work to identify and apply new technologies to make government operations more effective and create excellence in customer service," said David McClure, associate administrator of the innovative technologies office.
Conrad said May 10 the GSA job provides her with the opportunity to continue advancing government IT as an enabler. "This job and office represent an amalgam of the issues I have been committed to -- including promoting government IT as an enabler, not as an end in itself," Conrad said in an interview with Federal Computer Week.
Conrad formerly was senior vice president of Jefferson Consulting Group, where she led the firm’s federal marketing and business consulting practice. In 2010, she and McClure were co-chairs of the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council’s Executive Leadership Conference. Conrad also was vice chairwoman of TechAmerica’s Federal IT Dashboard Task Group.
Conrad was honored as a Federal 100 award winner by Federal Computer Week in March.
