FAS commissioner position is open
In a shuffling of positions, Steve Kempf will return from medical leave to a new job within GSA, and the agency seeks a new leader for its acquisition service.
The General Services Administration is now officially in the market for a new Federal Acquisition Service commissioner, according to a notice on USAJobs.gov.
Former FAS Commissioner Steve Kempf, who has been away on medical leave, is moving to a new -- but unspecified -- position within GSA. In an internal email from Sept. 12, Dan Tangherlini, GSA's acting administrator, wrote that Kempf "will be taking a significant new role at GSA." He gave no more details.
Currently, Mary Davie is serving as acting FAS commissioner. She’s held the position since August. Davie's usual role is assistant FAS commissioner for Integrated Technology Services.
Kempf announced in an email to employees July 27 that he was taking 60 days of medical leave.
As for the commissioner position, the agency is accepting applications until Oct. 17.
