Nominated for: Helping the U.S. military design and deploy a mobile solution to capture health records for soldiers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and relay health data within hours, replacing a paper-based process that took 90 days.

First IT mentor: Darryl Michael, principal of the school in my small hometown in northern India, who introduced us to computers way back in 1987.

What you're most proud of accomplishing on the job: It makes me very proud to be part of an exceptional team, working on important projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Career highlight: Deloitte’s leaders asked me to co-lead our diversity and inclusion initiative. I am proud to work for a firm that actively promotes diversity, and I am looking forward to working on this important initiative.

Your advice for a government IT wannabe: Team with people inside and outside your organization (even in unexpected disciplines) to think about how to change the game. We can all be change agents — for our teams, our communities, our country.

What you enjoy most about working in government IT: I am thankful for the tremendous opportunity to make an impact. When budgets are shrinking, the opportunity to use technology to do more with less stands in front of us. This is the time for technologists to shine.
