Holgate to stay on at ACT
Casey Coleman’s move to the private sector scuttled the American Council for Technology’s succession plans.
ATF CIO Rick Holgate will retain his post as head of the American Council for Technology because his expected successor moved to the private sector.
Rick Holgate, CIO at the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, will remain as chair of the American Council for Technology for another year.
The move comes because Casey Coleman, formerly CIO of the General Services Administration, moved to the private sector to a senior post in AT&T's federal practice, scuttling ACT's succession plans. Coleman had served as the executive vice chair of ACT, a position open only to feds, and was slated to move into the top slot this year.
"Rather than try to rush to fill that, I agreed to stay on for another year," Holgate told FCW in an interview. There is a finalist for the executive vice chair post that will be announced once the appointment is cleared by the agency.
On the industry side, Jim Williams is departing as chair of the Industry Advisory Council and will be replaced by Dan Chenok, senior fellow of the IBM Center for the Business of Government.
