Kelly Olson will step in next week to lead the Technology Transformation Service as acting director and serve as deputy commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service, the General Services Administration confirmed to FCW.

Both positions had been held by Joanne Collins Smee, who is leaving for a private-sector job at the end of the month.

A GSA spokesperson said Olson’s first day in both the TTS and FAS jobs would be on Aug. 27.

The news of the move was first reported by NextGov.

Olson has been chief of staff at TTS since March, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before that beginning in 2015, she had been director of TTS’ Innovation Portfolio, which included managing the Challenge.gov,  DigitalGov.gov and CitizenScience.gov websites.

Collins Smee stepped into the TTS job in late 2017 from the private sector amid a leadership shakeup when TTS Director Rob Cook, a former Pixar executive and animation software pioneer, left government after declining to accept a reassignment to a new job at GSA.
