DHS hosts virtual cybersecurity job fair
The Homeland Security Department has announced a Cybersecurity Virtual Job Fair to greatly expand its computer security workforce.
The Homeland Security Department announced today that it’s holding a virtual job fair specifically for cybersecurity workers to expand its computer security workforce.
Senior DHS officials announced in October that the department had been given special authority to hire as many as 1,000 additional people to work in cybersecurity jobs, but the department has said it doesn’t anticipate the need to fill all the positions.
DHS is in charge of protecting the federal government’s civilian computer networks and leads efforts to work with industry to enhance cybersecurity.
Interested applicants can search and apply for jobs via the Cybersecurity Virtual Job Fair Web page. The department plans to invite eligible applicants to interview at a private hiring event Jan. 22 and Jan. 23, 2010.
Salaries for the jobs range from $73,000 to $153,000, and the jobs are at the General Schedule 12-15 levels. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
DHS is looking for people to help with:
- Cyber incident response.
- Vulnerability detection and assessment.
- Networks and systems engineering.
- Cyber risk and strategic analysis.
- Intelligence and investigation.
