Federal 100: Naomi Lefkovitz

Name: Naomi Lefkovitz
Title: Senior Privacy Policy Adviser, National Institute of Standards and Technology
Agency: Department of Commerce

Privacy advocate. Lefkovitz is quiet, but when she speaks, people pay attention. An expert in privacy and identity management, she expanded her role in 2013 to serve as the privacy lead for the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace. Identity management initiatives in the public and private sectors face the challenge of safeguarding individuals' privacy when creating directories and databases that link personal information to credentials. Lefkovitz made sure that NSTIC and its steering committees kept privacy at the heart of all their efforts -- and that the resulting standards could actually make the credential exchange work.
