Government IT workers are reminded daily about the myriad threats that prey on their systems and networks. As a snapshot, the Defense Department denies, on average, 36 million attempted attacks on its email every day. On the local level, the city of Atlanta suffered a major ransomware attack in March; and states are preparing for expected attacks during the upcoming election season. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coates warned recently that U.S. digital infrastructure is “at a critical point” for cyber attacks not unlike the lead up to 9/11.
