Letter to the editor

IT personnel valuable

The letter addressing information technology concerns at the Social Security Administration ("Wanted: New management") hit the nail right on the head.

I am sure there are dozens, if not hundreds, of personnel who could substitute the name of their employer, and the text would still be right on the money.

When are they going to get the message that IT personnel are the most valuable resource the government has?

Trained, dedicated IT personnel are starting to realize that there is no future in government work anymore. Let's see how they all manage when they bring in brand-new personnel, pay them a boatload of money and wait for two years to see if they get up to speed. Good luck!
