SAIC, British firm ally for Army work
QinetiQ and SAIC will partner on simulation and training activities, including a major U.S. Army program
Science Applications International Corp. announced Nov. 26 that it has signed an agreement with QinetiQ of the United Kingdom to partner on simulation and training activities, including a major U.S. Army program.
As part of the agreement, QinetiQ (pronounced "kinetic") will team exclusively with SAIC for the U.S. Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command's Omnibus Contract, which is an eight-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract for simulation, training, testing and instrumentation products, with a ceiling value of $4 billion.
QinetiQ is a commercial company that comprises the vast majority of the United Kingdom's former Defence Evaluation and Research Agency.
Beverly Kitaoka, senior vice president of SAIC's Applied Software Systems Engineering Technology Group in Orlando, Fla., said the new alliance "combines SAIC's industry leadership in the synthetic natural environment and computer-generated forces with QinetiQ's history of world-class research and development in many areas, including advanced simulation technologies and intelligent distributed systems."
