IRS: More taxpayers use home computers to file returns

So far this year, about 4.8 million users have filed income tax returns with the IRS from home computers, a 40 percent increase over last year, according to the IRS.“We’re seeing strong growth in e-filing this year, especially among taxpayers using their home computers,” said Terry Lutes, IRS director for the Electronic Tax Administration. “Greater accuracy, faster refunds and an acknowledgement of filing are benefits of the e-file experience.”The IRS also noted an increase in one-stop tax filing, with more than 11.5 million taxpayers jointly filing their federal and state returns electronically.
