E-gov success stories

These two items are in response to an FCW.com poll question April 1-12 that asked: Outside of work, have you ever conducted an online transaction with a federal, state or local agency?

I've used the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles site (www.dmv.state.va.us) several times to renew my car's license plate, as well as renewing my driver's license. The site is excellent! Transactions are quick and easy.

It's even tied into the machines in gas stations that do emissions testing. You go to the local gas station and have the test done, access the DMV Web site a couple of hours later, and they know the test has been done, and will issue your license stickers. Superb!

I purchased my E-ZPass from the New York State Thruway site (www.thruway.state.ny.us). It was fast and easy.

I also e-file my federal and state taxes from home. I've had little problems (other than buggy software).
