Federal Aviation Administration veteran Steve Zaidman retired this month to become account executive for transportation security at Computer Sciences Corp.

Zaidman has been the FAA's associate administrator for research and acquisitions since July 1998. At the FAA, he managed a 2,000-person organization responsible for upgrading the National Airspace System infrastructure.

Charlie Keegan, director of the operational evolution staff and previously head of the Office of Free Flight, has been named to replace Zaidman.

The president nominated Richard Russell April 25 to be an associate director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Russell has served as chief of staff in the Office of Science and Technology Policy since January 2001.

From 1995 to 2001, he served with the House of Representative' Science Committee, first as a professional staff member for the Energy and Environment Subcommittee, then staff director for the Technology Subcommittee and finally as deputy chief of staff for the Science Committee.

Michael Flentje has joined Deloitte Consulting's federal government consulting practice as the leader of its federal e-learning initiatives.

Flentje formerly was director for KPMG Consulting Inc.'s National eLearning Solutions Practice. He has spent the past several years as a leader in developing and implementing learning and knowledge management solutions in the private and public sectors.

Flentje also spent nearly 20 years as a commanding officer and nuclear submarine captain in the Navy, specializing in personnel training, maintenance and operations of highly complex and integrated shipboard systems.
