Ron Martin has been named vice president of aviation solutions and services at Unitech Inc., the company announced April 3.

Martin will lead strategy development and tactical growth for Unitech's aviation solutions line of business, which is focused primarily on the Federal Aviation Administration. Unitech serves federal, state and local government and commercial customers, and has maintained an extensive business relationship with the FAA for more than seven years.

Martin previously was in senior management at ARINC Inc., including serving as senior director of the company's FAA Integrated Business Team and as executive director of the company's former subsidiary, SkySource Inc.

His accomplishments there included directing the delivery of ground-to-ground and air-to-ground communications capabilities to the FAA and aviation industry.

Martin also was responsible for the development and deployment of the first air traffic control data link application, known as Pre-Departure Clearance. He successfully expanded the program to the 57 busiest airports in the United States in just two years.
