Ready to serve Homeland

Following are responses to an FCW.com poll question that asked, "Given an opportunity, would you work for the Homeland Security Department?"

I would work for this department because I believe it has a critical mission to carry out for the safety of all Americans.

I absolutely would! I have been a cryptologist in the Navy for 20 years and am retiring in January 2003. I have a specialty in information security and operational security and am completing certification in network security now. My only hesitation would be leaving San Diego. Any chance there is a field office in the area?

The entire civilization is at WAR. It will remain so for as long as we have not resoundingly routed the forces that foster terrorism all over the globe. And that will take a long time.

Sadly, it is some sort of binary conflict. Either we defeat the terrorists or we are defeated by them, and the whole of mankind is forced to swallow beliefs it abhors. There will be no gray area this time; no hope for reasonable negotiations, handshakes or compromises. No Camp David retreats with the contending parties. It's either them or us.

In this context, I would very much want to contribute whatever feeble talent, time and even treasure I have to help in this global advocacy to root out terrorism and return Earth to its senses.
