GSA exec to be procurement nominee
David Safavian, GSA's chief of staff, will be nominated for administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, officials said.
President Bush plans to nominate the General Services Administration's chief of staff to be the next federal procurement executive.
David Safavian would be the administrator for the Office of Federal Procurement Policy in the Office of Management and Budget, White House officials said this week. If confirmed, he would replace Angela Styles, who left her post Sept. 15 to return to private law practice.
Before becoming GSA's chief of staff, Safavian was chief of staff for Rep. Chris Cannon (R-Utah). Safavian also worked for Reps. Bill Schuette (R-Mich.) and Bob Davis (R-Mich.). He has been a shareholder and managing partner at Janus-Merritt Strategies LLC, and an associate attorney for Preston, Gates and Ellis in Washington, D.C.
Safavian received a bachelor's degree from St. Louis University, a law degree from Michigan State University's Detroit College of Law and a master's in tax law from Georgetown University Law Center.
