Lee wins Ross award

The Professional Services Council has given its highest honor to Deidre Lee, former director of Defense procurement and acquisition policy.
The Marc S. Ross Award, named for the former chief executive officer of Veda Inc., goes each year to a government official who has demonstrated "leadership, commitment to partnership and ethical standards of the award's namesake," according to a statement released by the council.
"Throughout her distinguished career, she has demonstrated an unyielding commitment to excellence, innovation and partnerships between our government and the private sector," said Joseph Kampf, CEO of Anteon International Corp. and chairman of the council, in a statement. Lee joined the Coalition Provisional Authority Oct. 14 to assist with reconstruction efforts in Iraq. She helps craft the coalition office's policies for awarding contracts to rebuild the country's infrastructure and restore basic services.
Lee has said she will work for the provisional authority "as long as it takes" before returning to her position as director of Defense procurement. Domenic Cipicchio, director of policy in Lee's office, is serving as acting director in her absence.
Previous Ross award winners include Sen. John Warner (R-Va.), Comptroller General David Walker and Congressman Tom Davis (R-Va.).
