NSF wins honors for e-government progress

The National Science Foundation has earned the highest possible praise for management of its e-government projects. President Bush last week awarded NSF the President’s Quality Award for the agency’s progress toward meeting the e-government goals of the President’s Management Agenda.NSF is the only agency to receive a green on the PMA scorecard for its e-government work. The Office of Management and Budget quarterly evaluates agency progress toward meeting the goals of the PMA by handing out scores of red, yellow and green.The President’s Quality Award recognizes managerial excellence for agencies that have embraced the administration’s management agenda and shown significant results. NSF has met all five of the criteria to earn the green score:Last year, the Defense Department’s Tricare Management of Military Health Systems received the quality award for e-government.The Environmental Protection Agency also received an award for its work on the PMA financial management category. Three agencies received honorable mention awards: the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. for e-government; NASA for its budget and performance integration work; and the Social Security Administration for improved financial performance and human capital management.
