Bush picks Young for DOD acquisition
John Young is the nominee for deputy acquisition director for the Defense Department.
President Bush announced today that he will nominate John Young Jr. for the Defense Department's deputy acquisition director position.
Young currently serves as assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition — the Navy's top acquisition position. If approved by the Senate, he would become deputy undersecretary of Defense for acquisition and technology.
Michael Wynne currently holds DOD's top acquisition position — undersecretary of Defense for acquisition and technology. Wynne served as the deputy to Edward "Pete" Aldridge Jr., who retired last year.
