Unisys wins CIFA deal

Unisys Corp. will provide services for the Defense Department's Counterintelligence Field Activity (CIFA) under a blanket task order that could be worth up to $345 million over five years.

CIFA has already placed the first task order under the agreement -- Unisys will manage the delivery and installation of technology, as well as the implementation of processes, for CIFA's technology infrastructure under an $11 million order.

The blanket task order came through the Encore contract vehicle, a governmentwide acquisition contract program that supports integration efforts for DOD, other federal agencies, and state and local governments. Nine companies are qualified to bid on Encore contracts.

Unisys is one of the nine companies qualified to bid. Defense officials awarded the $2 billion contract, a follow-on to its Defense Enterprise Integration Services II vehicle, in 2002.

CIFA's mission is to develop a system that integrates all counterintelligence activities of the U.S. military services, defense agencies, joint staff and combatant commands.

The new technology and processes under the first task order will provide data processing and storage resources, systems consolidation, e-government technology and methods, communications systems integration and strategic planning capabilities, according to Unisys officials.
