EDS to upgrade USCIS records

Sytel hired EDS as a subcontractor to help modernize USCIS records management.

EDS has won a seven-year, $34 million subcontract from Sytel Corp. to help modernize the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services records management programs.

The companies will provide planning, development, maintenance, help desk, database and operations and imaging support for five critical systems that help the bureau's Office of Records Services track and share information about foreign visitors.

According to a company press release, the agency can access and view only one type or version of a file at a time. New systems will allow agency officials to view all instances of a related file to ensure all relevant data is identified and reconciled by law enforcement or immigration officials.

In addition to Sytel and EDS, other partners include Anacomp Inc. for document imaging services; Dev Technology Group Inc. for database design and development, Web programming and architecture planning, among other things; EMC Corp. for information storage and management products; EzGov Inc. for electronic payment processing; and Sapient Corp. for design, software engineering and program management.
