GSA picks acting chief of staff

Edwin Fielder Jr. has been chosen as acting chief of staff and interim chief acquisition officer at the General Services Administration.

Edwin Fielder Jr. has been chosen to be acting chief of staff and interim chief acquisition officer at the General Services Administration.

Fielder, who serves as regional administrator for the agency's Southeast Sunbelt Region, takes over for Karl Reichelt, who resigned the position last week.

"Ed is an extremely capable professional and GSA is very fortunate to have the benefit of his experience and expertise, which will serve us well in this transitional period until we select a permanent Chief of Staff," GSA Administrator Stephen Perry said.

The region Fielder oversees includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He was on the team that developed and implemented GSA's Get It Right program, officials said.

Reichelt said he left the agency to pursue opportunities outside of government, but declined to elaborate.
