Steven Law, deputy secretary at the Labor Department, will head the E-Government Committee of the President's Management Council, the Office of Management Budget announced.

Law replaces Samuel Bodman, former deputy secretary of the Treasury Department, who was confirmed Jan. 31 as secretary of the Energy Department.

According to his official biography, Law serves as Labor's chief operating officer, directing the senior secretary's senior executive team and managing budget and policy development, congressional and public affairs, and strategic planning.

OMB's press release announcing the appointment states that Labor "is one of only four Cabinet agencies to have earned four green scores and one yellow score in successfully implementing the President's Management Agenda."

Law, who also has been a Senate aide, served a stint as director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
