SRA buys Touchstone

Touchstone would bring a strong base of federal customers with its management consulting business.

SRA International officials have signed a definitive agreement to acquire Touchstone Consulting Group, a privately held management-consulting firm with a strong federal government business.

Touchstone consultants specialize in assisting agency officials develop, launch and manage strategic plans. Clients of the firm include the Homeland Security Department, the Defense Department, several intelligence agencies and the Office of Management and Budget. In late 2004, Touchstone and its subcontractors were chosen to be the sole industry sources for the e-government and federal enterprise architecture program offices at the OMB.

Touchstone has 135 employees and finished its fiscal 2005 on March 31 with about $27 million in revenue.

Renny DiPentima, SRA's chief executive officer, said that Touchstone is a good acquisition for SRA. "Their focus on strategic consulting to the most senior officials in government complements our high-end, full life cycle information technology services," he said in a written statement. "They are a premier provider of management consulting services to the government, and we believe that we can offer more value to the clients of both firms.”

The deal is all cash, but terms were not disclosed.

SRA officials also announced that the company has won a spot on the Environmental Protection Agency's Information Technology Solutions-Business Information Strategic Support contract, an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity vehicle that could be worth up to $148 million. SRA got the only large business spot on the contract.

Services provided under the contract will include enterprise architecture, information security, information management policy, among other requirements.
