Army general joins Battelle

Paul Kern will be a company vice president and senior adviser on homeland security and national defense.

Battelle announced earlier this month that Paul Kern, a retired Army four-star general who once served as the service’s top acquisition officer, will join the company as vice president and senior adviser on homeland security and national defense.

“Gen. Kern develops and implements change to solve complex problems, which is what we do for our clients every day,” said Gregory Frank, executive vice president at Battelle, in a May 11 statement. The company, located in Columbus, Ohio, develops technologies and manages laboratories.

Kern, 59, retired from the Army in November as commanding general of Army Materiel Command. Prior to that post, he served as the military deputy to the assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology.

Kern, a West Point graduate who served 37 years in the Army, also serves on the board of directors for Anteon and EDO.
