Accenture nabs pact for Army financials
Contract to build General Fund Enterprise Business System could be worth $537 million.
Accenture beat out four companies for a $537 million contract to build the Army's new financial system.
The General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) will replace three existing systems that run on mainframe computers: the Standard Army Finance System, the Defense Joint Accounting System and the Standard Operation and Maintenance Army Research and Development System.
Under the contract, which would run 10 years if all the options are exercised, Accenture will choose commercial software for GFEBS, manage its installation and maintain it.
“We are very pleased and excited to finally have a contract in place and an integration partner to help the Army modernize their financial management information systems in support of Army transformation objectives,” said Cherie Smith, project officer for GFEBS, in a statement today.
Accenture will begin work at Fort Jackson, S.C., developing a real property inventory system, according to an Army statement.
