Education CIO retiring

Bill Leidinger, the chief information officer at the Education Department, is the latest information technology executive to hang up his hat.

Leidinger, 65, who has been in the job since 2001, is leaving July 31. He said he has not yet decided what his next career move would be.

"I'm up in the air," said the former Pricewaterhouse Coopers executive who handled state and local issues for the company before joining the federal sector.

Leidinger said his biggest accomplishment during his four-year tenure was "being part of a team that has focused on improving the Department of Education."

There is no word yet on Leidinger's successor.
