Army issues RFP for computer buy
The service will award at least six contracts for the Army Desktop and Mobile Computing-2 program.

The Army has released the request for proposals for the highly anticipated multibillion-dollar Army Desktop and Mobile Computing-2 program.
Companies must submit proposals by Nov. 21 at 2 p.m., according to a notice published Oct. 22 on the Federal Business Opportunities’ Web site. The 10-year, $5 billion initiative covers desktop and notebook PCs, rugged notebook PCs, handheld devices, printers, projectors, displays, digital cameras, videoconferencing equipment, high-definition televisions and other information technology equipment.
The Army will award at least six indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts with three set asides for small business, said an Army IT official familiar with the solicitation. The contracts cover three years with three two-year options and one one-year option.
Winning vendors must provide at least a three-year warranty here and abroad on desktop and notebook PCs and other products must come with the standard commercial warranty. They must also comply with Defense Department and Army information technology standards.
