DISA's Encore II contract valued at $13B
Vehicle expected to help defense agencies transition their services to DISA's NCES program.
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) set the value of its next-generation enterprises services solicitation today at $13 billion, well above industry estimates, which pegged the value of the deal between $10 billion and $12 billion.
DISA plans to use the 10-year Encore II Information Technology Solutions contract to acquire a wide range of engineering and technical services for commands and agencies throughout the Defense Department. These services range from high level enterprise IT policy and integrated solutions management to communications engineering and asset management.
According to the Encore II request for proposals (RFP), DISA intends to use the contract to support users in the military services and agencies as they transition from legacy systems to another key DISA project, Net-Centric Enterprise Services. Encore II will help them effectively use core NCES product lines, including collaboration and discovery tools and a planned defensewide knowledge portal, the RFP states.
DISA director Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles Croom said last month he expects the agency to award more than nine contracts for Encore II, which has a five-year baseline and the option for another five years.
To meet the strong demand for engineering services in the DOD, this August DISA raised the ceiling on its existing Encore I contract to $2.5 billion from $2 billion.
