Arinc wins $10 million Navy anti-mine contract
Engineering firm will support anti-mine sonar program.
Arinc Engineering Services, of Annapolis, Md., has won a five-year, $10 million contract to provide technical, engineering and logistics support for the U.S. Navy’s newly developed anti-mine AN/AQS-20A Towed Sonar program.
The AN/AQS-20A detects, localizes and classifies mines in a wide range of settings. The system can detect mines at the sea bottom, floating on the surface or moored in position, in deep and shallow water, through acoustic sensors. These sensors include several types of sonar systems and an electro-optic identification sensor, according to an Arinc announcement.
The system is designed for the MH-60S helicopter and the Navy’s Remote Minehunting System to deploy it.
The deal is one of Arinc's largest contract wins as a prime contractor under the Navy SeaPort program, according to the company. It calls for more than 33,000 hours of labor per year. Arinc has three subcontractors to share the workload.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City, Fla., is the program's home base.
