Marines buy new radio systems
Harris Corp. won a $69 million delivery order to provide active-duty Marine and reserve components with Falcon II multiband, multimission radios.
The Marine Corps has awarded Harris Corp. a $69 million delivery order to provide active-duty and reserve components with Falcon II multiband, multimission radios.
Harris RF Communications Division, which manufactures secure voice and data communications products, will supply the Marine Corps with its new AN/PRC-117F multiband radio that covers the entire 30 to 512 MHz frequency spectrum.
It will also supply its AN/VRC-103(V), a mobile version that includes the radio and the Harris AM-7588 Multiband Power Amplifier. This system also covers the entire 30 to 512 MHz frequency range and has 50 watts of transmitting power.
The radios will upgrade the Marine Corps’ current tactical radio systems and will be used for several USMC programs, a Harris statement said.
The announcement did not say how many units the Marine Corps has ordered.
