ManTech takes on protg

It will tutor Infinite Group Inc., under the Homeland Security Department's mentor-protg program.

ManTech International, a provider of technologies and solutions for the intelligence community and other federal agencies, has agreed to sponsor Infinite Group Inc. (IGI), a government-designated small business, under the Homeland Security Department’s mentor-protg program.

IGI's information technology services include strategic staffing, program and project management, technical engineering, software development and enterprise resource planning.

ManTech will provide the Pittsford, N.Y.-based business with technical and management guidance so IGI can develop its business and expand its proposal development methodology and organization.

ManTech said today that it will also assist in other mentoring activities such as marketing, market analysis and government contracts support, administration, performance and execution.

IGI will have the opportunity to participate in training programs for program and project management, proposal writing and capture management at ManTech University.

In addition to IGI, ManTech has mentor-protg relationships with six other small businesses involving Defense Department and civilian agencies.

“ManTech has an excellent reputation at DHS, and they have done some superb work there such as helping to develop the Integrated Common Analytic Viewer, a geospatial intelligence tool,” said Michael Smith, president and chief executive officer of IGI, in a statement. “We look forward to working closely with ManTech in developing new business opportunities at DHS.”

“When small businesses are successful and grow, it strengthens our whole industry,” said Robert Coleman, president and chief operating officer of ManTech. “We derive as much benefit from working with small business as our partners, and [IGI] is the kind of small business that we pride ourselves in sponsoring.”

The DHS mentor-protg program is designed to encourage large prime contractors to provide developmental assistance to small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, and women-owned small-business concerns. The program also aids DHS’ contracting and subcontracting procedures, fosters long-term business relationships between prime contractors and small businesses, and expands subcontracting opportunities at DHS.
