Sade leaves Commerce for GSA

The overseer of Commerce's small-business COMMITS contract will lead acquisition management at GSA.

Mike Sade, director of the Commerce Department's Office of Acquisition Management and Financial Assistance, is leaving the agency to become associate commissioner for acquisition management at the General Services Administration.

The move becomes effective Dec. 24, Sade wrote in an e-mail message to colleagues. Sade ran Commerce's Commerce Information Technology Solutions contract and its successor, COMMITS NexGen. The new position is within GSA's Federal Acquisition Service.

"Leaving Commerce after 16 years will not be easy," he wrote. "I am looking forward to working with Jim Williams, Marty Wagner and the GSA team on the transformation of FAS."

The COMMITS contract is exclusively for small businesses. It is divided into tiers to prevent larger small firms from directly competing with the smallest.
