Letter: Outsourcing security is a bad idea
A reader argues that it makes more sense for civil service employees to handle security rather than spending their time training and overseeing contractors.
Regarding “OMB does not support bill to update FISMA”: I would like to know if the Office of Management and Budget had all the facts on the cost of outsourcing work to contractors versus having government employees do the work. Civil service employees often have to repair what contractors tore up or failed to do.
Where is the real cost? Contracting out security is DUMB because civil service employees could do their jobs rather than have to train and watch over contractors.
