Letter: Walker will be missed

A reader praises the comptroller general for listening to employees and upholding sound fiscal management practices.

Regarding “Comptroller general to leave GAO for foundation”: My best wishes to the Honorable David Walker on his departure from the Government Accountability Office. His efforts regarding sound fiscal management have been right on target. Although he has not always won the discussions, he listened to the workforce and to those interested in good government.

I think many in the federal government will miss his commentary on what is right as well as what is wrong with the way we operate. I know that not everyone agrees with his views, but that is part of working in the government.

I wish him well in his new endeavor.
