Letter: Government has failed in post 9/11 improvement efforts

One reader finds the efforts to improve first-responder equipment poor.

Regarding "DHS not prepared for cyberattacks, House committee chair says": The foremost concern in reaction to 9/11 was to protect the citizens of the United States and to provide better training and equipment for our first-responders.

This government has failed in almost all respects.

Even our Capitol Police lack working radios. Of course, we should not have needed 9/11 as a catalyst. Let's leave that behind and finally get on with taking care of all of our citizens, and by inference, stop giving away our hard earned money to defense contractors for shoddy work in a country that wasn't threatening us.
