Letter: Change is needed in Washington

A reader writes that members of congressional committees should have a background in the issues dealt with on those committees.

Regarding "DHS not prepared for cyberattacks, House committee chair says"

I have a master's in information systems. What do those [in] Congress and the Department of Homeland Security have? Nothing.

DHS and many federal agencies [have] hired people with no experience. They are not hiring the right people for the right job. Watch [out]!

Most [members of] Congress don't even have a background on information technology, finance, arms services, etc. We need to select [members of] Congress with such backgrounds before they can be on the committee.

My point is this is not surprising at all. We definitely need change in DC.
