President-elect Barack Obama has set guidelines for people working in his transition operation, including a ban on lobbyists working on issues related to their lobbying efforts, the Washington Post blog The Fix reported.

The rules, which continue the policies Obama practiced during his primary and general election campaigns, will ban any federal lobbyist from raising or contributing money for the transition efforts, as well as block anyone involved in the transition’s policy work for lobbying on those issues for the next calendar year. The total transition staff will be some 450 people, transition co-chairman John Podesta said. Beginning Monday there will be a top-to-bottom review of every government agency to make sure the new administration “hits the ground running on Jan. 20,” The Fix said.
