GSA gets new congressional affairs leader
The agency is promoting Brian Mabry to associate administrator of the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Brian Mabry, a deputy associate administrator at the General Services Administration’s Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, will become associate administrator and take charge of the office Dec. 6, GSA announced today.
In his current role, Mabry works with Congress on GSA’s appropriations and budget matters. He said he wants to maintain GSA's level of service in supplying goods, services and work space to agencies.
“Brian has done an outstanding job handling our appropriations and budget issues with Congress, and these issues will be center stage in the coming weeks,” said Acting GSA Administrator Jim Williams in a statement.
Kevin Messner, the office's current associate administrator, is leaving GSA to accept a position as vice president of government relations at the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.
Since 2006, Messner and the congressional affairs office have focused on GSA’s responsiveness to customers. He also led the agency's Office of Governmentwide Policy for two years.
