Goldsmith tapped the power of Web 2.0 social networks to dramatically boost the ranks of public service volunteers. He played a key role in forging the agency’s partnership with Google and Facebook to increase participation in the 2009 Martin Luther King National Day of Service. CNCS laid down crucial building blocks in 2008 that helped the agency and its partners log more than 12,100 MLK Day projects this year, more than double the number of last year. CNCS implemented a number of significant, additional Web 2.0 and social-networking strategies across its many programs and partnerships.

Goldsmith is “a real thinker and innovator of long standing,” whose vision has changed the whole national service movement, said Stan Soloway, president of the Professional Services Council.
