Intell agency eyes geospatial data upgrade
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency wants information on geospatial data that it can use to upgrade its holdings.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency wants information from companies to help the agency upgrade its cache of geospatial data, according to a notice from the intelligence agency.
According to a request for information, the NGA is interested in a consistently produced, global geospatial dataset to be used to produce a kind of chart called a NAVPLAN. An NGA spokeswoman explained that NAVPLAN charts are small-scale charts used for planning flight missions.
NGA is interested in data at the scale of 1:500,000 or smaller and with specific features, the agency said in the RFI posted Aug. 19 on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site.
“A key agency priority is to maintain and enhance the current ‘global’ feature data warehouse,” the RFI states.
People interested in participating NGA’s market research have until Sept.18 to submit packages, the notice said.
