Federal 100: Amy Burnett

Amy Burnett
Director of CDC-INFO
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

When the swine flu H1N1 pandemic created an urgent demand for public health information, Burnett responded with a combination of alacrity and ingenuity.

Burnett quickly formulated her vision, assembled the necessary partners and got work started on CDC-INFO, a multichannel contact center. In seven days, the center’s staff increased 100 percent to deal with the huge influx of calls about the virus. Because of the center, 93 percent of calls were answered in 30 seconds or less.

“Amy has demonstrated a special blend of taking an evidence-based approach to managing the program by constantly analyzing data to systemically improve services while also being very responsive to rapidly changing circumstances,” said James Seligman, CDC's chief information officer.
